“The only person you should be comparing yourself to is who you were yesterday.”

June wasn’t without it’s challenges, but like they say: “With great challenge comes great reward”, and rewards there were many.
It is with great pleasure that I am sharing with you my new aerial silks demo reel. The video was filmed at École National du Cirque in Montreal and was recorded and edited by my talented friend Alexis Vigneault.

I am beyond proud of the end result. It is a great symbol of my work this past year, and an excellent motivation to keep going!
I also received my prints from my first aerial photoshot!
I really enjoyed playing with makeup and getting a chance to see my character come to life. Now, I’m all set to head out and start knocking on company doors. For a glimpse at some of the photos check out the Gallery.
Monday, June 30th was the opening of our show “100% femmes” at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.

It was 40 degrees outside with the humidity, and pavement and wind were interesting challenges, but we did really well. We are beyond excited to perform our last two shows on Friday, July 5th and Saturday, July 6th. Feel free to check out some of the photos taken during our first show in the Gallery page.
If I were to be comparing myself, to the Léda who started this blog 1 year ago, I would have to say I’ve come a long way, and I can’t wait to keep going. Anything is possible!
My first circus show in Montreal Cirqua Zerna – Le Sublime has opened and closed, and I feel very proud to have been involved.
With the show closing I was able to put all my energy and concentration into finishing my aerial silks number. And, last week I got together with the talented Alexis Vigneault and filmed my aerial demo at l’École National du Cirque.
This was a personal goal that I had set out for myself many months ago. In fact, when I was first developing this circus program, creating a “one of a kind aerial act” and recording it was my only goal. To some this may seem like “no big deal”… These days it seems like anyone can film a circus skill they’ve been working on and put it up on Youtube. But for me this demo was more than that. I wanted to create a number that reflected who I was as an artist, while also reflecting excellence. I feel as though I have done that, and I am eager to be able to share my hard work with the world very soon.
And now it is time to move on to the next challenge…
I have been selected to perform in the streets of Montreal during the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.
This 30 min street act, titled “Femmes des Rêves”, is a collaboration between myself and aerialist Noémie Beauchamp. It is a celebration of femininity and the women in Jazz. The show will feature my silk number, Mme. Beauchamp on aerial chains and dance trapeze, as well as high-energy dances and characters (of course!). I will be posting more details soon.
Montreal is bursting with circus these days! This past weekend I had the pleasure of seeing the year-end presentation of L’École National’s graduating students at the TOHU, and next month is Complètement Cirque is back up in full swing!
I can’t believe it has been a year since I moved to this new and wonderful city. I feel so blessed for all the amazing coaches I have been able to work with and I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store.
Here we go!
